Terence J. (“Terry”) O’Connell is a founding partner of the firm and an experienced civil litigator, having tried hundreds of cases in his career. He has argued numerous appeals, both in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has been awarded an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell and is a member of the Council on Litigation Management (formerly the Council on Ethical Billing). His practice focuses on the defense of cases in the areas of automobile insurance and liability, catastrophic injuries, commercial insurance and liability, construction defects and accidents, elevator and escalator liability, general liability and negligence, insurance coverage, intentional torts, premises liability, property and casualty claims, products liability, rental car claims and wrongful death.

Terry is a member of the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He is also a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Washington Claim Association, the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers Association, the Maryland Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.

From 1982 to 1983, Terry served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable George H. Revercomb, Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He received his J.D. in 1982 from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., where he represented the school in national mock trial competition. He received a B.A. in Accounting in 1978, also from the Catholic University of America, and was awarded membership in the Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society.

Terry was born on October 24, 1956 in Washington, D.C. and is a lifelong resident of the Washington metropolitan area. He currently resides with his wife Jillian in Potomac, Maryland and is the proud father of three children; Patrick, Molly and Colleen.
