Kevin O'Connell is a founding partner of the firm
and has practiced civil litigation and workers'
compensation for the past thirty years in the Washington
metropolitan area. Admitted to the local and federal
courts, and administrative agencies and commissions
in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia,
Kevin has consistently achieved an "AV" peer rating
in Martindale-Hubbell. His practice focuses on advising
and defending insurers, employers and self-insured
employers in workers' compensation, employment and
civil liability claims, including personal injury,
negligence, false arrest, auto accident and other
claims, as well as protection and pursuit of employers'
subrogation rights in civil litigation, all including
both jury and non-jury trials and appeals. His practice
also includes advising and representing insurance
companies and insureds in disputes concerning insurance
coverage and employment law.
A former member of the Corporation Counsel's Office
(now Office of the Attorney General) of the District
of Columbia, and in private practice in the above
areas since 1981, Kevin is a member of the Maryland,
District of Columbia and Virginia state bars, as
well as the federal and appellate bars in these
jurisdictions, as well as the United States Supreme
Court, the D.C. Defense Lawyers Association and
the Defense Research Institute. He is a former three-term
president of the Association of Compensation Insurance
Attorneys, recently served as Co-Chair of the Workers'
Compensation section of the Montgomery County Bar
Association, and is an instructor with the Lorman
and National Business Institute Workers' Compensation
Educational seminars. He received his B.A. from
Villanova University and his law degree from Georgetown
University Law Center in Washington, D.C.
Kevin was born September 28, 1950 in Washington,
D.C. and is a life-long resident of the Washington,
D.C. area. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and
their two children, Bethany and Brendan, in Bethesda,
Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.
